One interesting and easy way of creating your own custom patterns on wall, simulating the look of custom wallpaper or wallpaper murals, is to use an overhead projector to project, trace and then paint a pattern, design or mural on the wall.
The most common types of wallpaper available are: vinyl coated, coated fabric, paper backed vinyl or solid sheet vinyl, and fabric backed vinyl. Vinyl coated wallpaper is not only the most popular type of wallpaper, but is also the most durable type. Because it is treated with vinyl acrylic, it is tough, moisture resistant, and easy to clean.
The second factor to consider is application. Traditional wallpaper comes in an unpasted form. This means a paste has to be mixed, applied to the paper and allowed to fix or ”book,” before being applied. This type of paper is the most difficult to hang and the most difficult to remove, as the glue can be stubborn after several years.
To maintain a clean wall, food stains should be wiped off as soon as possible to remove any solid particles. If there are grease spot remaining, use cleaning fluid with an absorbent mixture like Fuller’s earth clay or tailor’s (French) chalk. For ink splatters, carefully blot up the stain as soon as possible using a moist towelette.
